Delete your Recess account
You can delete your Recess account, and everything in it, whenever you like. There are two ways.
In the app
- Open Recess and go to your Profile tab.
- Tap Settings (the gear).
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
Your account is deleted right away. It is not a deactivation, and there is no waiting period.
By email
If you can’t get into the app, email founders@recesstoday.com with the subject Delete my Recess account. Send it from the email address you signed in with, and include your @username so we can find your account. We’ll delete it and reply once it’s done.
What gets deleted
Your account itself, and with it: your profile, your Life Updates and their photos and videos, your Recesses, your comments and reactions, your friendships and requests, your contact groups, your birthday card and the signatures you left on other people’s, and your notification tokens.
What we keep
- If you reported someone, the report stays but stops naming you.
- If you shared an organizer page with others, it stays with them. A page only you ran is deleted with you.
- Records we must keep for tax or legal reasons stay for as long as the law requires, and backups age out on their own schedule.
Deleting some data, not your account
Inside the app you can delete any moment or Life Update, delete your comments, leave or delete a Recess, unfriend or block anyone, and turn off location sharing, birthday celebrations and notifications in Settings.
